Covid 19 Rules and Regulations

Sag Harbor Tennis Enthusiasts,

We are very excited to get back out on the court. The Mayor of Sag Harbor has approved doubles and clinics with 4 or less players. We are also monitoring protocols and procedures of neighboring facilities.

We will communicate with everyone involved: staff, players, partners, community officials, other community tennis facilities, tennis professionals, tennis organizations such as USTA, USPTA, PTR, Tennis Industry Association, Club Management Association of America, etc., as well as the CDC and the Federal, State, and Local Governments to stay up to date on best practices and procedures.

We are happy to announce that all courts are open and ready for play. As a reminder, they will be soft for about 2 weeks until they get some use, so please be patient with some bad bounces early on.

Basic Guidelines
- Only staff will be allowed in the tennis shop

- The bathroom will be locked at all times. We know that this may be a significant inconvenience, but please try to plan accordingly if you know what we mean. Go right before you get in your car, and remember, it’s a large park, so you can be discreet and creative.

- Players, staff, and everyone entering the tennis area should wash hands (at least 20 seconds with soap and warm water) prior to arriving at the court-we will have sanitizer available on request-please wash hands again after the scheduled tennis activity has ended
  • - Singles: each player must have their own tennis balls (at least 2 per player) and mark their balls so that they can be differentiated.  Player only handles his/her own tennis balls for service and otherwise. Never touch opponent’s tennis balls
  • - Doubles: just as is with singles, each player brings their own 2 tennis balls & marks them to differentiate from the other 3 players.
  • Please Note: We will have plenty of tennis balls for purchase in the tennis shop and markers to mark the tennis balls. If you bring balls with different numbers, that will also do the trick.

- All reservations will be made online via club locker, or by contacting a staff member.

- Payment May be made through Venmo, Paypal, or Zelle. - Credit card payments and cash payments can be made near the shop. A small pocket will be created near the tennis shack. You may drop the cash or card, the staff member will pick it up, complete the transaction, and the player will then retrieve the card and/or receipt, all done with ample social distancing. New gloves must be worn for these transactions, and then discarded. Gloves will be available near the tennis shack.

- No spectators or waiting players congregating in the court area - players should arrive no more than five minutes prior to the scheduled activity and should leave promptly at the end of their activity

Cleaning, Sanitizing and Social Distancing

- Gates will be unlocked on all upper courts. Please enter your court from the proper door. Each set of courts has its own gate.

- Gates, nets, net posts and equipment will be cleaned and sanitized several times a day

- Chairs, tables, benches, and water coolers will be removed or roped off to prevent congregating and touching.

- Sanitizer will be available on the court

- Gloves and masks will be available

- Signage will be displayed reminding and encouraging people about hand washing, sanitizing, and keeping social distance (at least six feet apart)

- Courts will be marked (where appropriate) to help players with social distancing

Coaching

- Group coaching will be limited to small groups (four or less) - if all players are from the same household, the maximum can be higher.

- If teaching the serve during a private lesson, the player is required to wear a glove and mask or the pro can stand at least 6 feet away while coaching

- The players will be positioned at well-spaced stations

- Coach will pick up all of the balls. Players may use their racquets and feet to push balls to a corner - avoid using hands and touching the balls

Tennis Balls and Equipment

- If practicing serve during a lesson, the player must wear a glove and they are not allowed to touch any other surface with the glove while wearing it (tennis balls only). If serving and playing points, the player must use their own (3-6 marked) tennis balls.

- All tennis equipment (hoppers, ball tubes, baskets, etc.) will only be touched by the coach. These items will be cleaned and sanitized frequently.

- Please bring your own racket. We will have rackets for sale or if you need to borrow a demo racket please let the staff know ahead of time, and we will provide one for you. All demo rackets will be sanitized before and after use.

Other Important Info

- Let us know immediately if you have been diagnosed with COVID-19

- Please do not come to a tennis activity if you do not feel well or if you know that you have been exposed to someone who has COVID-19.  Please communicate with us if you are unsure whether to attend.

- Please bring your own water, sunscreen, and an easily identifiable towel if needed. Water coolers will not be put out on the courts at this time.
